Q – Why do I get weighed at Check-in?
Ans – All passengers are weighed at check-in for safety requirements of our Dash8 aircrafts.
Q – When do check-in counters open and close?
Ans – For Domestic flights the check-in counters open 1 hour 30 mins before departure and closes 45 minutes before departure. For Regional/International flights the check-in counter opens 3 hrs before departure and closes 1 hr before departure.
Q – What are the requirements with regards to photo ID in domestic flights?
Ans – With effect from 1st July 2004 Maldives Civil Aviation regulation requires passengers to present photo identification (such as Maldivian Identity Card) at the time of making a reservation and check-in for domestic flights. Children under the age of 10 are required to present a copy of their birth certificate or an ID card.
Q – What are the requirements with regards to photo ID in regional/international flights?
Ans – For regional flights; passports must be submitted at the time of making reservation and check-in for regional/international flights. The passport must be valid for 6 months from date of travel.
Q – What is the free baggage allowance on Maldivian?
Ans – Free baggage allowance is limited to 20kgs for all domestic sectors. For sectors operated by A320 aircraft the general bagagge allowance is 20kgs for economy, 25kgs for premium economy and 30kgs for business class. However on some sectors, additional baggage allowances are offered from time to time on certain sectors. Passengers are advised to check with the Carrier for more details. Additionally passengers are adviced not to carry over-sized hand luggage since our Dash8 fleet's overhead compartments are smaller.
Q- Are toilet facilities available onboard all Maldivian flights?
Ans – Yes they are.
Q- What is the maximum length of surfboards that can be carried on Maldivian flights?
Ans – the maximum length of surfboards packed in its bags must not exceed 7 feet in length in order to accommodate on Dash8 aircrafts. This is due to limitation in the baggage compartment in our Dash8 aircraft.
Q- What other over sized checked baggage restrictions are there in Maldivian flights?
Ans – Each individual baggage cannot exceed 32kgs in weight.
Q – Are there any refund charges on Maldivian tickets?
Ans – Yes and the refund policy will differ depending on the type of ticket purchased and on what class. For details please contact the Carrier.
Q – Does passengers have to reconfirm tickets before departure?
Ans – for regional tickets, passengers are required to reconfirm their return journey 72hours before departure time and those not reconfirmed will be cancelled without prior notice. Passengers may contact any of the Maldivian reservation offices for reconfirmation.
Q – What is the validity of Maldivian tickets?
Ans – Generally for domestic tickets the validity is 03 months from date of issue and for regional tickets the validity is 01 year from date of issue. However tickets bought on different fare classes can have a different validity period. It is always advisable to check with the Carrier while ticketing.
