Nanjing the southern capital city of China is a renowned historical and cultural city that was the capital of several dynasties over the course of Chinese history. It has many historical sites including Ming tombs that are on the UNESCO world heritage list. Nanjing Museum, formerly known as National Central Museum, is the first modern museum and remains as one of the leading museums in China having 400,000 items in its permanent collection. It was the host city of the 2014 summer youth Olympics. Nanjing was a place where poets gathered and composed poems acting as a hub where different thoughts and opinions converged and thrived. Nanjing being designated as the national capital, many structures were built around that time which today, still remain open to tourists.
