Xian formerly known as Sian is the capital of Shaanxi province located in the northwest of China. Xian is the first of four great ancient capitals of china with more than 3,000 years of history. Xian was originally a walled city; the ancient city wall which stretches round the old city and even today it is considered as a landmark dividing the city into the inner part and the outer part. Xian has a continental climate with four distinct seasons. Known as the leading city of China's Western Development Drive Program since 1990s, Xian is an important economic, cultural, industrial and educational center of the central-northwest region, providing visitors with modern and convenient facilities.
