Hoarafushi, a peopled island is located in Haa Alifu Atoll and is a geographical part of Ihavandhippolhu Atoll in the northern most area of Maldives. This region surrounded by lavish coral patches in its lagoons with the channels found in the atoll is perfect for divers and underwater photo enthusiasts. Some of the landmarks include the famous ‘Utheemu Ganduvaru’ - the birthplace of one of the prominent heroes in the Maldivian history.  The Hoarafushi domestic airport was opened in in November 2020.
