Power Bank Restrictions

In light of ongoing safety concerns regarding carriage of power banks, use of power banks is restricted on all of our aircrafts, for the safety and security of our passengers, crew and aircraft. These restrictions are effective as of 6th July 2025 until further notice.

Passengers are allowed to carry a maximum of 2 power banks per person. The maximum allowable capacity for a power bank carried is 100Wh.

Onboard the aircraft, power banks must be kept on-person, in the seat pocket, or under the seat. Stowage in the overhead bins, is strictly prohibited. Carriage in checked baggage remains strictly prohibited as well.

It is not allowed to use the power bank to charge any device, or recharge power banks while onboard the aircraft.

To prevent power banks from short circuit or accidental activation, the items are required to be carried in their original packaging, or with otherwise insulated terminals, e.g. by taping over exposed terminals or placing each device in a separate plastic bag or protective pouch.

Maldivian remains committed to upholding the highest safety standards while ensuring a smooth travel experience. We appreciate passengers' cooperation in adhering to these safety measures.

Power banks carried must be of a type that meets the requirements of the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part III, subsection 38.3.
