What is Right to Information ?

According to this Act  (Law Number 1/2014), every citizen has the right to know how state institutions are functioning. Right to Information empowers citizens to seek information from state institutions and inspect their documents. Right to Information increases transparency and accountability in the Government.

Making an Information Request at Island Aviation Services Limited

1. To make a request to Island Aviation Services Limited, Application form for obtaining information under the Right to Information Act should be submitted to the Information Officer.
2. A request could be submitted physically or emailed to information.officer@iasl.aero
3. Information Officer may decline a request for information if the request relates to information exempted by the Right to information Act. 
4. Under normal circumstances, the requested information will be provided to the requesting person within 21 days. However, if the request includes a lot of information and it consumes so much time to generate the information or involves extensive research, the 21 day’s period may be extended for a further 14 days. In such cases, the Information Officer will inform the requesting person in writing about the extension, before the expiry of the initial 21 days.
5. If the requested information cannot be disclosed, then the requesting person should be informed in writing.

Right To Appeal

If the requesting person is unsatisfied with the response/decision of the Information Officer, the requesting person has the discretion to appeal the decision to the Review Committee within 30 days. The Review Committee is required to make a decision within 30 days.
