Maldivian Achieves EASA Part-145 Certification, Marking a Major Milestone in Aircraft Maintenance Capabilities

Male', Maldives, February 13 2025

Island Aviation Services Limited (IASL), widely known for operating “Maldivian,” the national airline of the Maldives, is pleased to announce that it has successfully obtained the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) Part 145 approval certificate, marking a significant milestone in the company’s maintenance capabilities and making IASL the first EASA Part 145 holder in the Maldives. This achievement represents the 12th Part 145 approval (approved Aircraft Maintenance Organisation) obtained by IASL Engineering, including maintenance approvals from the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority and 11 foreign civil aviation authorities, further solidifying its reputation for excellence in aviation maintenance.

The EASA Part 145 approval allows IASL to provide direct maintenance services for European-Registered aircraft, significantly expanding its service offerings. IASL has long been a trusted provider of maintenance support to a wide range of International Airlines operating to Velana International Airport (MLE) and is now positioned to expand its reach to more international airlines.

“This certification provides significant support for future airline and passenger growth,” said Mohamed Hassan, Director of Engineering Operations. “Our current airline partners will benefit from certified line maintenance services and on-site support, ensuring prompt resolution of any aircraft issues that may occur during operations. This achievement underscores our dedication to excellence and our ability to meet the highest international standards. This approval opens more career opportunities for Maldivian aircraft maintenance engineers, mechanics and other aviation professionals.”

Currently, IASL Engineering provides comprehensive maintenance support for a wide range of aircraft, including the Airbus A320 Family, A330, A350, and Boeing 737, 767, 777, and 787, as well as the Cessna 150/152F, Tecnam P2006T, DHC-6, DHC-8, and ATR-42/72.

Currently, IASL Engineering provides line maintenance services to more than 30 international airlines. The EASA Part-145 certification not only enhances the company’s capabilities but also positions it as a key player in the global aviation maintenance industry. With this certification, IASL is well-equipped to support the growing demands of the aviation sector and attract new airline partners seeking high-quality maintenance services.
